Frivolity Friday: What's the Deal With the Water Bill?

I could not resist posting this. The intelligence and curiosity of cats is always a source of amazement to me. I have a cat, Gizmo, who looks an awful lot like the one in this video, and he’s always up to similar antics. You just never know what Gizmo is going to try to figure out. I think cats are miraculous in every way. Next time you cuddle your house cat, take a minute to consider his intelligence and capacity for learning.

  1. That is one funny kitty. I’m glad to see he didn’t fall in after the flush. Now if he could just be taught to sit and then flush, that would be hilarious.

  2. I have heard that some people teach their cats to use the toilet. I don’t know about the flushing part.
I would dearly love for my cats to learn this, as they will have to be indoor cats in Hawaii.
I wonder how you teach them this skill (without any accidental swirlies)?

  3. We too have a cat who is fascinated by the flush. He will rush to the bathoom when someone goes in to use the facilities. He also drinks from the water remaining in the shower base, despite having a bowl of fresh water always available – and looks guilty when caught doing this.

    Hahaha! *looks guilty*
Gizmo drinks from the toilet, the downspouts, drops of water left in the sink, regardless of the fact that he has a nice clean germ-free bowl of water, too.

  5. wow, what a clever kitty. that’s too cute :-) animals never cease to amaze me with their curiosity and intelligence. i swear my dog understands the entire english language, and i have a horse who has learned how to undo latches, untie knots and dismantle fencing. i have another horse who can unsnap his stall guard… (in addition to the amazing things they can do under saddle!) sometimes it’s just little things, but they always impress me.

you’ve got me thinking I’ve got to do a little research on how animals teach themselves and how they learn, and how we (people) perceive this learning. *scurries to the drawing board*

those horses who can undo their stall guards and bull snaps are the most dangerous, though, eh?
