At one of the barns I boarded at years ago, I had a young friend whose horse told her he wanted to eat cake. Seriously. He made a practice of demanding sips of apple juice and soda, and always tried to get a nibble of her sandwiches. When he told her through an aniimal communicator that he felt he deserved cake, she made him a carrot cake and brought him frozen pieces every day as a reward for good rides. And he was a very good boy indeed.

I always wanted to make my own horse treats, and now Paige at The Equinest has published a few great recipes for homemade treats. This is an excellent rainy-day project. Go check them out!
