Thinking Blogger Award

Thinking Blogger Award

I recently ran across the Thinking Blogger Awards and Revenge of the Z-list. Got me thinking. (Not much else to do while you’re on your arse per doctor’s orders.) I am fully aware that this is supposed to be a blog about mindfulness, and that, metaphorically speaking, thinking is about as far from mindfulness as possible. But I like to have my imagination fired, get my neurons firing, same as most.

I truly do not know much about Technorati or how much horse bloggers think about their stats. We all blog for similar reasons, but some of us want different things out of it. If you’re determined to get as many good hits as possible, there are more ways to go about it than I know, obviously, from looking at my own stats. I did experience one incomprehensible surge in popularity on the Top 100 Equestrian Sites this summer, and I still can’t figure it out. After the spike, things went back to normal and I get about 50-60 hits a day, mostly by those who are mute. I love comments, and lament the lack thereof.

As I said, this got me thinking.

I read a lot of blogs that don’t get due attention. Whether they’re incisive thinkers, beautiful writers or photographers, there are great bloggers (horsey or not) out there who go relatively unnoticed. But, like me, they keep on truckin due to the need we all have to communicate.

So I thought I might get the ball rolling for some of us out here by bringing the Thinking Blogger Award to the horsey blogging world. Many thanks for the concept got to the Thinking Blog. If I have unfairly co-opted your prize, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

I would like to call attention to 5 Blogs That Make Me Think. In addition to being thought-provoking, they add to the benefits of Technorati or other blog search engines in that their links fairly represent their content. This works positively for all us bloggers. Tagging is a tough thing, as we all know. Sometimes after a long hard day of work and family, when you write about mud, muck, and horsefeathers, it’s difficult to work up the extra energy to tag posts appropriately. Then I suppose there are savvy bloggers out there who do this expertly. I am neither.

Conratulations! The 5 Blogs That Make Me Think win a

If you find your blog here, I’m lucky. You have read my blog. If you receive an email about this award, please accept the compliment and pass it on according to the rules set out below. If you decide you’d like to pass this award along to five other deserving blogs, please pass this list of rules to your awardees. The participation rules are simple:

1. If you receive this award, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.

One last thing. If you’re comfortable with sharing this information, I’d like to know approximately how many hits per day your blog receives. You can email me this info if you like. Otherwise, ignore my noseyness.

That’s it! Happy reading, happy tagging, and best of all, happy thinking.
